January Style Notes

January is awash with ‘out with the old and in with the new’ articles as the fashion world strides into Spring shouting about all things SS19. However, as mere mortals, we are currently in the no man’s land of January sales, freezing weather and a post-Christmas spending squeeze.

As January rolls on (doesn’t it just) and we start to get back into routines it’s lovely to take a peek at a few things you can buy now to give yourself a New Year boost without freezing to death or breaking the bank.

1 Try the new shape denim. Straight leg almost crops have my vote. High waisted and sitting on the ankle, they really shouldn’t work but they really do. Skinnies are here to stay too though so don’t fret.

2 New jeans need a new boot shape. Look for mid calf, slim fitting and block heel. Don’t worry if you can see a glimpse of flesh between boot and jean.

3. Satin bias-cut skirts. Wear with chunky knits and the above ankle boots.

4. Headbands. Each season fashion has an accessory that is ‘the thing’. Last season it was earrings (still a thing) this season it’s headbands. They come in all different guises and are easy to style. Give one a go!

5. A checked coat. My first ever investment piece was a Reiss checked coat in the 90’s that finally gave up after years of wear. I am searching for a replacement...

Ps keep French manicures, square toes and small bags on your radars out there ladies xx
